Supreme Court? Colorado’s Health Care Freedom in Jeopardy Again

Who should make your health care choices: You, or the Colorado legislature?

Adults are free to use regular doctors as well as alternative medicine.   We have a right to see if acupuncturists, chiropractors, homeopaths, naturopaths, nutritionists, and wellness consultants can help us.  This is called freedom of choice for our own health care needs.

As if ObamaCare isn’t enough, now Colorado’s legislature wants to force new “rules and restrictions” on the long-standing practice of Naturopaths here in Colorado.

Naturopathy is a complete alternative care system that uses a wide range of approaches such as nutrition, herbs, manipulation of the body, exercise, and stress reduction.  Many people have used Naturopathies to change their lifestyles.  Their approach can help cure the disease, while traditional medicine only treated the symptoms.

Colorado’s House is introducing a bill, HB11-1173, to allow ONLY 90 people, in the entire state of Colorado, to be naturopaths.  This bill also mandates huge licensing requirements that have not previously been in place.  Under the guise of public health protection, it will make illegal what thousands of Colorado Naturopaths have been safely doing for decades.

These draconian restrictions increase the costs of alternative medicine and take away our freedoms.

Why is Colorado government interfering with free market competition?

Please call and/or email the below listed legislators to tell them NO to HB11-1173!  Make sure you put your name and your county so they know if you are their constituent.  If you don’t know who your representative is, click here to find out.

To help more, come to the State Capitol (Corner of Colfax and Lincoln) on March 1 @ 9:00 a.m. (in the basement cafeteria) and tell them NO to HB11-1173!

The more people that show up, the more our legislators will listen.

If this bill were to pass, what would it mean to you?

· Eliminates freedom to choose our practitioners and whom we want to see, thus allowing the government to control this market.
· Puts 16,000 nutritionists, herbalists, and wellness consultants out of business in Colorado – taking $640,000 out of Colorado’s economy annually!
· Citizens would be forced to use 1 of only 90 “Licensed Naturopaths” in the entire state.  Ninety “Licensed” practitioners cannot care for all the people who utilize natural care.  (CO 2009 fiscal note from previous licensing attempt.)
· Costs would increase from $75-$120 per visit to at least $200 or more.  “It is proven licensure increases the cost of care.” (Miller, CNHCF, 2011)
· Quality would suffer, as only a group of 90 natural health practitioners could never meet the wellness needs for all the people of Colorado.

Colorado is the 8th healthiest state in the union because we have health care choice.  Our current legislature is trying to take that choice away from us.  We must come together and loudly tell them NO on HB11-1173!  Call and/or email now!  Come to the State Capitol on Tuesday, March 1, @ 9am.  Become active in Coloradoans running government, instead of Colorado’s government running us.

For Liberty,
Bonnie Cannon
Interim State Coordinator

P.S.  Thank you for being a politically active Coloradoan, for it is people like you who will help us keep our health care freedom of choice in our State.  Please call or email now to keep that freedom and tell them to vote NO on HB11-1173.

    • I was cured of Reiter’s through a naturopath.

Not only that, when I went in my skin from my fingers were
burning off I couldn’t sleep because my entire body was on
      fire itching.

I’d say give that a go for half a year – I went to normal doctors which did
absolutely not a damn thing but take my money.

These guys need to be around, a lot of them actually have
past Degrees as an MD and several other area. Some of the
most knowledgeable individuals I know through most of the medical
      systems.

I believe a good push back on this is needed. I’m living proof!
